台灣鯛變身保育鯊魚的制勝武器台灣「雲林縣口湖漁類生產合作社」發現,台灣鯛尾鰭質感與鯊魚翅極為相似,料理後與饕客趨之若鶩的魚翅羹濃稠口感同樣美味,再加上其加工尾鰭價格低廉(每公斤120美元,為鯊魚翅價格的四分之一)、取得容易辦公室出租,遂積極將以往慣於丟棄的尾鰭研發為深具經濟價值的「鯛魚翅」。台灣鯛魚翅若能成功取代鯊魚翅,定能為現今飽受過漁壓力及全球對魚翅的需求因著中國大陸經濟起飛迅速攀升下急速銳減的全球鯊魚數量帶來一線生機。吳郭魚係自第二次世界大戰個人信貸後引進,因其容易養殖又屬價格低廉的蛋白質來源,素有「窮人食物」之稱。為彰顯台灣改良吳郭魚造就其異於非洲原生吳郭魚的獨特性,特於2002年正式命名為「台灣鯛」。(摘譯自INFOFISH Trade News, No. 20/2011,1 November 2011)CAN 襯衫TILAPIA FINS HELP SAVE THE SHARKS?Farmed hybrid tilapia in Taiwan may be about to become a new weapon in shark conservation.
